I’m pretty sure that anyone that reads this blog can agree with me on one thing. The tax code as it is written today in the United States is broken. Personally, I think it’s broken beyond repair and is in need of a complete overhaul beyond simple tax reform, but I’ll take?whatever?they can give us. For those of you that are used to shopping online, get ready. You may soon be paying sales tax for your online purchases.?The Marketplace Fairness Act?looks like it will be passed in the Senate next week. There are also signs pointing towards it passing in Congress as well. If it all goes that way that, which it looks like it will, you’ll be paying a sales tax on your online purchases soon. The U.S. Government?hasn’t?just kicked the can down the road;?they’ve?punted it into the next county! So if you?re concerned about the government shutting down, you no longer have to worry about that, at least not until September. ?On March 26th, President Obama signed legislation that funds the Government through September 30th of 2013. Yep, that?s correct they gave the budget a good hard punt, putting off the necessity of actually creating and passing one for another five months.
